In it the "mestizo culture" prevails, with a strong predominance of Spanish survivals over indigenous ones. Most of their dances, songs and rhythms have hispanic origins, with Colombian native adaptations and creations.
This region is the most populated in Colombia, with 34 million inhabitants; It includes the Central, Eastern and Western mountain ranges and its most important rivers are: Magdalena and Cauca.


Location

It is located in the center of the country, bordering the Caribbean region to the north, Venezuela to the northeast, the Orinoquía to the east, the Amazon to the southeast, Ecuador to the south and the Pacific region to the west.

This region owes its name to the Andes mountain range, which towards the north of South America are divided into the Pasto knots and the Colombian Massif into three mountain ranges called Occidental, Central and Oriental.

Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Tolima, Huila, Cauca, Nariño y Valle del Cauca.


Weather

It is temperate and mountainous. It is characterized by its low temperatures, especially in areas near the high mountains and in them as such.

Although the climate in the region is mostly temperate, the mountainous physical characteristics are very different from each other, being able to present different types of climate.
